Expert Witness Sentenced
An Anniston man who became a specialist witness on medical matters in court has been sentenced to a year in prison for lying about degrees from Harvard University and MIT. Robert David "Bob" Madrid, 42, was sentenced to a year in prison on lying under oath charges and fined $1,000. Following his prison release, he will serve up three years on trial, District Attorney Steve Giddens said Friday. Madrid's sentence resulted from a Feb. 22 guilty plea to one count of perjury, a class C felony.
