Governor Janet Napolitano wants the Arizona Supreme Court to refuse to consider a complaint she illegally vetoed part of a pay raise bill. Attorneys for the governor said House Speaker Jim Weiers and Senate President Ken Bennett lack legal standing to argue that her February action was unconstitutional, and suggested the high court should stay out of "what is really a political dispute." The Legislature, on a party-line vote, decided to sue. Napolitano's attorneys said the Legislature should have at least attempted to override her veto. But GOP leaders opposed.
