University cashier steals money
Debra J. Potes, 46, of Bellingham, who had worked in the university's cashier's office since 1991. He stole at least $88,000 of public money, according to a state auditor's. According to the state Auditor's Office, Potes stole money between Dec. 6, 2001, and June 24, 2005. She was responsible to deposit money in the bank but she pocketed the amount, which is student's scholarship. After that, neither potes nor her Bellingham attorneys returned calls for comment.
