Lawyer's board complaints
Several complaints brought to the Minnesota Lawyer?s Board are customarily dismissed. These include several complaints by clients upset because their attorney lost their case. Acting Director, Betty Shaw, stated that the number of lawyers receiving complaints for violations usually ranges in the thirties. This year the number is up to 27 and another eighteen are pending. "Lying to the court, altering a document, and it doesn't even have to be within the legal profession. If you are an attorney and you are engaging in fraudulent conduct, even though it's outside the practice of law, that reflects adversely on your character and you don't have the character to be a lawyer if you can't be honest," Shaw said.
