Gov. Lynch signed a law yesterday that allows police, prosecutors and social service agencies to work together on crimes of child abuse and neglect. The legislation, SB 370, will allow Children's Advocacy Centers to open in every county. Four centers already exist, where law enforcement, the state Division for Children, Youth and Families, local county attorneys, victim advocates and medical and mental health workers work as a team to investigate child abuse and provide services to victims. Sen. David Gottesman, D-Nashua, sponsor of the bill, said a team approaches in these cases with a child victim is critical to gather the necessary evidence... |
