Price gouging investigations
U.S. President George Bush asked state attorney general offices throughout the country to put into effect state laws regarding price manipulation, but here in the Live Free or Die state, no such laws exist to allow the attorney general to investigate possible price gouging at the pump. Rep. Lee Quandt, R-Exeter, sponsored a bill this term to let the attorney general to look into such claims, and it would have banned price gouging. "The bill as amended would have allowed the attorney general?s office to get involved in price gouging complaints, and it would have allowed the office to enter into multistage investigations of price gouging," he said Wednesday.
