Retirement System Investigation
Two men associated with Watertown's pension board are under inspection in connection with the state inspector general's investigation of a Middlesex Retirement System construction project. State Inspector General Gregory W. Sullivan concluded the Middlesex board mishandled its own pension funds, untrustworthy credentials, and rigged bids to steer $590,000 in construction work at the board's Billerica offices to contractors friendly with board members in 2002.
